Recently, the Nansha Haijia Auto Terminal of Guangzhou Port was approved to be opened to the public.
The new terminal is located on the north side of Shazai Island, Huangge Town. With a total length of 459 meters of quay shoreline and a water depth of -12.5 meters at the front and harbor pool, it provides one 50,000-ton and one 10,000-ton vehicle roll-on-roll-off (RO-RO) berths and is designed to handle 620,000 commercial vehicles annually.
The terminal will further consolidate Guangzhou’s position as a major port for vehicle distribution.
This is the first terminal opened to the public after the State Council detailed measures to promote the development of Nansha District in the city of Guangzhou in a bid to deepen comprehensive cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and expand the high-standard opening-up.

The Guangzhou Port ranked fourth in the 2021 Global Container Port Efficiency Index released by the World Bank and first among the top ten ports in global cargo throughput.
The port handled 11.85 million TEU from January to June and over 2.2 million TEU in June, registering a record high for a single month. The cargo throughput was 316.29 million tons from January to June and 57.73 million tons in June, writing a new high for a single month in the first half of 2022.
Thirteen new foreign trade routes have been opened since the beginning of 2022. By the end of June, there were 260 container routes, including 154 foreign trade routes and 106 domestic trade routes.
