Unstable weather with intensifying thunderstorms expected in Guangdong this week

Starting from April 16, there will be a gradual increase in thunderstorms and unstable weather in Guangdong with the weakening and retreating of the subtropical highs, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Service.

It is expected that from the evening of April 16 to 19, Guangdong will encounter light to heavy thunderstorms, with occasional intense rainfall and strong convective weather, including hailstorms. Notably, on April 18 and 19, the central and northern regions of the province are expected to see heavy or even torrential rain. Residents are advised to keep an eye on the weather and make necessary preparations.

On April 16, the northern regions of Guangdong and the northern section of Zhaoqing are predicted to see cloudy to overcast skies, with light to heavy thunderstorms. Locally, these storms may be accompanied by strong convective weather, including gale-force winds, rain showers, and hailstorms.

The remaining areas will remain mostly cloudy with intermittent thundershowers. Additionally, light fog will persist in the morning and evening in northern and eastern Guangdong. The daytime temperatures are forecasted to hover between 29℃ and 32℃, with the Leizhou Peninsula experiencing slightly warmer temperatures ranging from 32℃ to 35℃.

On April 17, there will be light to heavy thunderstorms with isolated heavy to torrential rain in northern Guangdong, most of the Pearl River Delta, Yunfu, and Maoming. The rest of the province will have scattered thundershowers. The daytime high will range from 26℃ to 29℃ in the northern part of northern Guangdong, 33℃ to 36℃ in the Leizhou Peninsula, and 30℃ to 33℃ in other regions.

On April 18, heavy rain or even heavy to torrential rain is expected in northern Guangdong, the northern section of Zhaoqing, and the northern part of Guangzhou. Meanwhile, the remaining parts of the province will experience mostly cloudy to overcast skies, with isolated thundershowers that may turn into heavy rain. The daytime high will reach 26℃ to 29℃ in the central and northern parts of the province, 32℃ to 34℃ in the Leizhou Peninsula, and 30℃ to 32℃ in other regions.
