The Chinese mainland reported 80 new confirmed cases of mpox from November 1 to 30, among which 12 cases were in Guangdong, according to the notice released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on December 13. No severe cases or deaths were reported.

Epidemiological investigation shows that the cases were all in male, and 93.8% were men who had sex with men. The risk of transmission by other means is low. No infections have occurred in close contacts other than sexual contacts.
Moreover, 96.9% of the cases were detected in people seeking medical treatment, and 1.5% were found through close contact tracing and screening. The clinical manifestations of the vast majority of cases are typical, mainly fever, herpes, and swollen lymph nodes.
