Super typhoon Saola is forecast to make landfall in eastern Guangdong during the daytime of September 1, according to Guangdong Meteorological Observatory.
It is also possible that the typhoon may gradually weaken while moving west by south on the sea surface near East Guangdong, the forecast also said.

As of 16:00 today (August 30), a total of 27 typhoon alerts have been issued in Guangdong.
On August 30 and 31, most parts of Guangdong will be cloudy with localized showers. The eastern Guangdong will also see thundershowers with localized torrential rain.
Affected by Saola, there will be torrential rain to rainstorms in eastern Guangdong, Meizhou, Heyuan and the southern Pearl River Delta from the evening of August 31 to September 3. The wind will also freshen in the coastal areas of East Guangdong.
