The base will carry out rocket production and testing, with a production capacity of up to 30 rockets per year.

The operation of the base is expected to spur the development of aerospace's upstream-downstream industries in the area.

CAS Space is a Beijing-based rocket company owned by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the base's opening ceremony, CAS Space launched its PR rocket series and signed launching agreements worth 1.6 billion RMB with 7 partners, involving 200 satellites. CAP Space also signed a cooperation agreement with CTG Travel to research and develop technology for space tourism.

According to CAS Space, the company is equipped to manufacture rockets with a carrying capacity of 1-15 tons, which is suitable for application scenarios such as low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation networking, space station cargo transport, sub-orbital space tourism, and near-space scientific experiments.

Shi Xiaoning, Technology Officer of CAS Space, said that Nansha has advanced the industrial development of the artificial intelligence, semiconductor, and integrated circuit industries, which is essential for the company to facilitate cooperation with local enterprises and lead the rocket production towards commercial use.

According to Ma Jiehong, Deputy Executive Chief of Nansha District, Nansha places great importance on the commercial aerospace industry and has implemented the "nine measures to explore the sky" policy to support commercial aerospace enterprises operating in the area, involving the financing of enterprises, development of spacecraft, pre-launching preparation and orbit insertion. Commercial aerospace enterprises will receive up to 100 million RMB in subsidies for their R&D costs.
