Over 325,000 foreign tourists have entered Guangzhou visa-free this year; cross-border passenger traffic hits record high

According to the Guangzhou General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, as of 24:00 on August 19th, the number of passengers entering and exiting this station this year has reached 9.55 million, 1.87 times that of the same period last year, exceeding the full-year total of 2023.

As China further expands its visa-free entry and 144-hour visa-free transit policies, and the National Immigration Administration introduces five measures to facilitate foreigners' visits to China, foreigners' trips to China have become more efficient and convenient, boosting the popularity of "China Travel." As of 24:00 on August 19th, Guangzhou General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection has inspected 2.542 million foreign travelers, a 151.3% year-on-year increase. Among them, over 40,000 foreign travelers have entered China under the 24/144-hour visa-free transit policy, and over 325,000 foreign travelers have entered China visa-free, 17.62 times the number from the same period last year.

Since the beginning of 2024, passenger flows at various ports in the city have been increasing monthly. The daily peak of inbound and outbound passengers has exceeded 48,000, and over 63,000 inbound and outbound flights have been inspected, marking a 66.3% year-on-year growth.

Ports such as Pazhou Ferry Terminal, Nansha Port, Humen Port, and Shunde Harbour have collectively inspected 722,000 entries and exits (including over 343,000 inbound and outbound passengers, an 87.4% year-on-year increase). Additionally, more than 37,000 inbound and outbound vessels have been inspected, a 10.7% year-on-year increase.

Encouraged by the continuous optimization of exit-entry policies, outbound tourism among Chinese mainland residents has continued to grow. This year, various ports have inspected over 5.908 million entries and exits of Chinese mainland residents, a 74% year-on-year increase.
