"ICIF is a very important event for the cultural interaction and for the promotion of different cultures as well. We are strongly supporting ICIF and also, I would also like to thank the fair organizers for inviting us to open a booth here," said Kaan Baskurt, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Guangzhou, during an interview with GDToday at the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which runs through May 27.
The 20th ICIF has attracted more than 300 overseas exhibitors from 60 countries and regions, showcasing cultural exhibits from all around the world. "In our booth, you can find a Turkish airline stand as well as some Turkish coffee brands, and some other Turkish cultural elements," Mr. Baskurt presented, "We are also promoting Turkish gastronomy here. We have great restaurants that work in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and here you can even taste Turkish food."
The Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Guangzhou held a conference to introduce Turkish gastronomy culture at the fair on May 25. Bunco By Abidin, a Turkish restaurant based in Shenzhen, served authentic Turkish dishes to the attendees.
Mr. Baskurt further emphasized the global significance of Turkish cuisine , ranking it and the Chinese cuisine among the top five cuisines worldwide. "It's also very interesting in the fact that Turkish cuisine has been influenced by China a little bit, thanks to the ancient Silk Road. That's why we actually share some common values and tastes as well in Turkish cuisine. I would like to invite all the Chinese friends to come here and experience Turkish cuisine," said the Turkish CG.
