Guangdong has recently led 19 provincial-level regions to carry out the third round of alliance quantity-specific procurement. The prices of products in eight categories, such as nucleic acid test reagents and supporting consumables for COVID-19, further dropped by an average of 42%, with 82% as the biggest drop, hitting a new low in China. The price reduction has been radiated out to 19 places.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, Guangdong has lowered the price of single nucleic acid tests and mixed testing for six times in total. The cost of a single test has decreased from 143 RMB per person to below 18 RMB currently. The price of a mixed test has been reduced from 20 RMB to 5 RMB per person.

With 44.1 billion RMB saved in the cost of COVID-19 tests since the epidemic, Guangdong has effectively reduced the cost of regular nucleic acid tests for residents.
