Guangzhou's Nansha district inaugurated the RCEP Pre-prepared Food Exhibition Center and the RCEP Pre-prepared Food Quality Control Center when celebrating the farmers' harvest festival on Sept 24.

18 enterprises from Nansha showed their pre-prepared food products at the inauguration ceremony, including the famous Chinese cuisine, fish with pickled Chinese cabbage soup, which is made of the fish from Nansha's local fishery.

Pre-prepared food refers to finished or semi-finished dishes that are prepared in a factory and preserved by freezing or vacuum packaging after pre-processing. These products have been popular in oversea markets and are now rapidly developing in China.
According to Wang Qingfeng, Vice Head of Nansha Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into effect this year, it has helped boost the agricultural products trade between China and ASEAN countries.
"RCEP Pre-prepared Food Quality Control Center plans to research on import and export standards of food in RCEP countries and help Guangdong's agricultural industrial chain, supply chain, and value chain extend to overseas countries," said Wang.
Wang elaborated that the first step is to export pre-prepared food into Southeast Asian countries. In the future, they will set up pre-prepared food factories in foreign countries, produce and sell pre-prepared food there.
"In this way, we can better control the product quality based on the manufacturing standards of a foreign country. Eventually, we will promote Guangdong pre-prepared food products globally," said Wang.
Cai Rong, Vice Manager of Guangzhou Nansha Modern Agriculture Corporation, introduced that currently, RCEP Pre-prepared Food Quality Control Center's inspection covers the whole-life-process of pre-prepared food, including the cultivation on farms.
According to the Nansha government, the district's total value of agricultural output exceeded 12.26 billion RMB in 2021.
