Ms. Wang held her premature baby and expressed her gratitude to the medical staff in the Department of Obstetrics and Neonatology, Shenshan Medical Center, Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University (hereinafter referred to as Shenshan Medical Center).

Previously, the team at Shenshan Medical Center completed the first extrauterine placental transfusion in east Guangdong, which improved her baby’s severe anaemia. After treatment, a baby with a birth weight of only 1,000 grams gained weight to 2,700 grams after nine weeks and was discharged from the hospital.
Since its official opening in 2021, the hospital has been providing quality health services in Shanwei and even east Guangdong by pulling medical resources. Moreover, Guangzhou-Shanwei remote diagnosis and treatment enable patients to access advanced medical services more conveniently. In October 2022, Shenshan Medical Center was approved as a regional medical center.

Chief Physician Peng Yongpai has been serving as the Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Shenshan Central Hospital since its inception. He witnessed the whole development process of multiple specialities.
He said, “Our recent V-NOTES hysterectomy and laparoscopic staging of endometrial cancer represent the top strength of the hospital as a regional medical center and a high-level hospital in Guangdong. We will continue to provide more quality services for the people here.”

As of early April 2023, The Shenshan Central Hospital has opened 26 wards and more than 800 beds, with a total of approximately 560,000 outpatient and emergency visits, over 30,000 discharges, and a total of approximately 16,000 surgeries conducted.
