On November 1, 2024, a workshop on copyright was held at the Canton Fair Complex in Guangzhou, organized by the China Foreign Trade Center, the Copyright Bureau of Guangzhou, the Law School of Jinan University, the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Talent Base, and the Copyright Protection Center of Guangzhou. Participants included students and faculty members from Jinan University.

The event aimed to strengthen copyright services and foster understanding of copyright issues among participants, with a focus on China's largest and oldest trade show.

Students toured the exhibition hall, exploring a variety of products on display, from handicrafts and advanced toys to high-end textiles. This experience gave them firsthand insight into the importance of copyright in protecting creative and high-quality products, connecting classroom knowledge of copyright law with its real-world applications at the Canton Fair.
The Copyright Bureau of Guangzhou, along with Jinan University and other institutions, has been conducting research and educational programs to advance copyright protection at exhibitions, reflecting Guangzhou's commitment to high-quality copyright service development. In recent years, the Bureau of Guangzhou has established a copyright expert pool comprising 42 professionals specializing in copyright management, protection, and research.

Guangzhou has been recognized as a "National Copyright Model City (全国版权示范城市)" since 2013, an honor awarded by the National Copyright Administration of the People's Republic of China to cities that demonstrate exemplary practices in copyright protection, management, and promotion. These cities are recognized for their innovative policies, successful initiatives, and effective systems in supporting copyright creators and industries.
The city has pioneered initiatives such as a subsidy program for copyright registration since 2008, providing over 30 million yuan to creators within the city. Regional initiatives, like Haizhu District's "Ten Measures for Copyright Development," have awarded funds to copyright-based businesses. In the first three quarters of 2024, core copyright sectors in Haizhu reported a revenue increase of 23%, totaling 90.6 billion yuan.
