​Nansha highlighted in Guangzhou's plan for high-quality development

Guangzhou's Nansha District was highlighted in the city's plan for high-quality development at the grand conference held by the Guangdong government on high-quality development on January 28.

The meeting saw the participation of more than 1,000 persons offline and 25,000 persons online, including representatives from leading enterprises of different business sectors. Major government officials and business leaders were invited to share their plans for 2023 and highlighted opportunities in Guangdong.

Lin Keqing, Party Chief of Guangzhou, highlighted Nansha in Guangzhou's plan for quality development, saying, “Nansha is at the center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with national strategic positioning.”

“Guangzhou will actively implement the ‘five missions' in the overall plan issued by the State Council to promote comprehensive cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao by further deepening the opening-up in the Nansha district. Guangzhou government will also pay efforts to enhance the rule connect mechanism between Nansha and Hong Kong, Macao.” said Lin.

According to the plan, it will build industrial cooperation bases for sci-tech innovation, establish cooperation platforms on startups and employment for youth, build Nansha into a door for high-level opening-up, establish a rule connect mechanism, make Nansha a model for urban high-quality development.

“We will boost the development of 3 launching areas (Nanshawan, Qingsheng hub, and Nansha hub) in Nansha, levy enterprise income tax at a reduced rate of 15 percent for enterprises in sectors encouraged, and settle a batch of major manufacture projects in 2023,” said Lin.

Lu Yixian, Party Chief of Nansha district said Nansha will strive to achieve more than a 10 percent increase in economic volume, 16 percent increase in industrial output of industries above designated size, 30 percent increase in fixed assets investment, and 85 percent increase in industrial investment, so as to become the new engine of high-quality development in the city.

Lu stated Nansha will ensure the fundamental role of the manufacturing industry and promote the construction of Nansha Science City, HKUST (Guangzhou) Phase II, and the International Talent Special Zone. Efforts will be made to sign new projects up to 10 billion RMB in such key industries as new energy vehicles, new energy storage, integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, life and health, and finance. “We aim at constructing Nansha into a hub of innovative industries in the GBA,” said Lu.

He pointed out that opening up is the orientation of Nansha's development, saying “With the largest comprehensive hub port in South China, we will cooperate with Hong Kong and Macao to construct a cross-border trade hub in Nansha.”

"Here in Nansha, we enjoy triple advantages of policy, business model, and regulatory innovation," said Li Jinling, CEO of Top Ideal Cross-border EC, adding "We have grown rapidly together with Nansha, and have introduced a lot of Global 500 companies to settle in Nansha."

Li said that the company will continue to improve the digital supply chain system and help more international top 500 and cross-border e-commerce platforms to gain a foothold in Nansha in 2023.
