According to Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation (Guangdong Intellectual Property Administration), by the end of August 2022, Guangdong has had 508,000 effective invention patents and 248,000 PCT international patent applications, ranking 1st in China.
Courts in Guangdong concluded 73,000 intellectual property cases from January to August in 2022, ranking among the highest in China. The average award of patent cases reached 825,000 RMB, up 148.5 percent from 2019.
Thus far, there are 13 national intellectual property protection centers and fast intellectual property rights service centers in Guangdong.
In terms of regional and international cooperation, Guangdong has carried out 356 Guangdong-Hong Kong and Guangdong-Macao cooperation projects. As of now, Guangdong has set up 12 inquiry centers for intellectual property in Hong Kong. Also, the province has established 3 branches of the Chinese Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Response and Guidance Center.
In terms of scientific innovation, industrial development and business-trade integration, Guangdong has built 333 high-value patent cultivation and distribution centers, 10 industrial clusters, and 13 cooperative operation centers.
In addition, Guangdong has won 826 awards in the last three China Patent Awards, including 25 gold awards. By August 2022, the adequate number of invention patents in Guangdong's strategic industrial clusters stood at 309,600, ranking 1st in China.
The amount of patent and trademark pledges in Guangdong hit 39.54 billion RMB, ranking 2nd in China. Guangdong has issued 11 new intellectual property protection products, with an issue amount of 2.32 billion RMB from January to August in 2022.
