HK residents concerned if "Northbound Travel for HK Vehicles" can include Shenzhen: Guangdong CPPCC member from HK

The 13th Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its second session on the morning of January 22 in Guangzhou. Over 700 Guangdong provincial CPPCC members and more than 200 attendees gathered at the Baiyun International Conference Center.

"The public concerns about the physical and institutional connectivity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA) have been continuously promoted." Zheng Lindong, Guangdong provincial CPPCC member and Chairman of Well Gain (HK) Investment Holdings Limited told GDToday ahead of the opening of the conference.

Zheng introduced that various initiatives like the "Hong Kong and Macao Medicine and Equipment Connect", the "Cross-boundary Wealth Management Connect Scheme in the GBA" and "Social Security Pass" have been implemented, improving the well-being of residents in Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

Zheng also expressed that Hong Kong residents are concerned about whether the "Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles" can include Shenzhen. He added, “The duration of customs clearance is also a concern. If the customs clearance time can be extended during holidays or special periods to ensure smoother traffic flow, it would facilitate exchanges between people from both regions, thus promoting economic development.”
