Spring brings harvest to the pineapple industry in Xuwen county, Guangdong's Zhanjiang city. Known as a land of pineapple in China, Xuwen sent out a letter to international pineapple purchasers on February 12, inviting them to visit Xuwen and taste the fragrant and sweet fruit there.
Located on the Leizhou Peninsula, Xuwen with a pineapple planting area of more than 23,333 hectares usually produces about 700,000 metric tons of pineapples a year, making it China's biggest pineapple production base. Land with selenium-enriched soil created by ancient volcanic eruption, tropical monsoons, abundant sunshine all contribute to the particular sweetness of Xuwen's pineapples.
In the letter, local government also expressed their wishes to establish stable cooperation with global buyers under RCEP via both online and offline channels. For example, they will host worldwide buyer conferences and invite buyers around the world to go deep into the fields and choose the fruit themselves. Also, they will build an online "meeting room" for purchasers who are unable to come to Xuwen to communicate with local farmers.
In recent years, Xuwen has launched a package of measures to promote local pineapple brand and help pineapple farmers live a better life. The county said that they would continue to prioritize standardized planting and strict quality control to bring the world high-quality pineapples.
