Chairs in a Guangzhou hospital go viral online

A picture of chairs in a Guangzhou hospital has recently gone viral on the internet. There are 12 green seats in the picture, and each seat has a hollow hole in the center.

Some of the comments on the"Little Red Book" are as follows: "hitting patients’ pain point", "obviously avoiding patients’ pain point"...The chairs are on the 3rd floor of Building 1, the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

The chairs in the waiting area for the pelvic floor treatment division under the Department of Anorectal Surgery are specially used for patients after anal surgery, and have been in use for more than half a year.

According to Li Li, deputy chief technician of the Pelvic Floor Treatment Division of the hospital, these chairs originated from their treatment chairs. Patients with anorectal diseases suffer from unbearable wound pain and cannot sit normally.

She added that some patients' wounds healed slowly, while some patients from other places needed to undergo surgery several times. They could neither work nor accompany their families, and were under psychological and economic pressure. "We believe that the hospital should be a place of warmth and love."

This hospital’s care for patients is more than just these chairs.

For instance, patients who undergo gastrointestinal endoscopy have certain fasting requirements. They may have low blood sugar, and experience paleness, dizziness, and fainting. Therefore, the Department of Endoscopic Surgery at the hospital has prepared candies for patients.

The Department of Radiology provides Mandarin, Hakka, Teochew, and Cantonese dialect instructions for the convenience of patients from different areas.

Moreover, the Reproductive Medicine Center of the hospital designed hysteroscopic surgical gowns to save patients from the trouble of repeatedly putting on and taking off their lower body clothes during hysteroscopic surgery, and they will be put into use shortly.
