At birth, "Dongdong" weighed only about 300 grams, and it didn't have any hair. He started to leave his mother's arms around 70 days old, trying to explore the unknown world. Before reaching adulthood, he will live with his mother, and will only be able to live independently at the age of about 3.
"Dongdong" eats eggs, cucumbers, pumpkins, corn, oranges, carrots, and other nutritious ingredients every day. Cooked chicken is also a weekly extra meal. Every morning, the mother and child of the sun bear come out of the cage and move around freely. The sport that "Dong Dong" is best at is climbing trees.

The sun bear is the smallest bear in the world, and it is also a first-class protected animal in China. They are extremely rare in the wild, and are more endangered than giant pandas. The survival rate of sun bear cubs is very low and their reproduction is very difficult. Guangzhou Zoo is one of the very few zoos in China that have successfully bred sun bears.
