1st section of Guangzhou metro Line 22 opens on March 31

The first section of Line 22 (from Panyu Square Station to Chentougang Station) commenced operation on March 31. With a total length of 30.8 kilometers, the section has 8 stations, including 4 transfer stations. It is positioned as the Guangzhou South Railway Station Express line.

The first section of Line 22 starts from Chentougang Station in the west and ends at Panyu Square Station in the east. It is 18.2 kilometers long and has 4 stations, all of which are underground stations. The line starts from Chentougang Station, passing through Guangzhou South Railway Station, Shiguang Road Station, Panyu Square Station, among which Guangzhou South Station (transfer to Line 2, Line 7, Foshan Metro Line 2), Panyu Square Station (transfer to Line 3, Line 18) are transfer stations. In the initial phase, the first section of Line 22 will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h, with a one-way journey time of about 14 minutes and an interval of about 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

Line 22 uses Suiteng OS, a rail transit operating system based on the industrial Internet and the Internet of Things. It realized automatic operational system functions. Without the driver's operation, the train can automatically complete such tasks as departure, operation, opening and closing functions, calibration and automatic line transfer.

Up to now, 16 percent of the remaining section of Line 22 (Chentougang Station-Baietan Station) has been completed, and 4 more stations are currently under construction. 

In the future, Line 22 will link Fangcun with Baiyun Airport intercity project, connecting Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou Baiyun Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station and other railway stations with 3 terminals of Baiyun International Airport.
