GZ optimizes COVID test, clinic & in-hospital services

1. 1,323 convenient PCR testing sites set for residents' needs

Guangzhou has prepared 1,323 convenient PCR testing sites, 297 yellow code PCR testing sites, and 87 24-hour PCR testing sites on December 2.

2. Regular and emergency clinics open to patients with green codes

Regular and emergency clinics are available for patients with green codes. New inpatients and their companions need 24-hour negative PCR test results. 

The city will fully utilize its 114 standardized fever clinics and equip them with more medical personnel. The setting of the waiting rooms as well as the treatment process will be further optimized.

3. Nearly 90,000 beds prepared for COVID-19 patients

Guangzhou prepared nearly 90,000 beds and more than 2,000 ICU beds in designated, sub-designed, makeshift hospitals.

On December 1, Guangzhou reported 5,839 local COVID-19 cases, among which 67 were found in communities. 8,216 people were discharged from makeshift hospitals, adding the total discharged number to 57,760 since the outbreak of this round of the epidemic.

According to Guangzhou medical Municipal Health Commission, 90% of the total 162,700 infections of this wave of the epidemic are asymptomatic cases, with only 4 intensive and critical cases, and no death cases, indicating that Omicron has a lesser virulence than the original strain.
