Thai Durian Festival held in Guangzhou’s Nansha

2022 Thai Durian Festival was held in Guangzhou’s Nansha Bird Bark with the theme of "Think Durian Think Thailand" on July 23-24. More than 700 visitors participated in the event.

Taking advantage of Nansha’s important role in the import and export business, the festival aims to improve Chinese consumers’ understanding of Thai durians and expand the import of Thai durians to the Chinese market.

Jiraporn Sudanich, Consul General of Thailand in Guangzhou, explained that Thailand exported more than 510 million tons of durians to China from February 1 to June 17 this year in 2022, worth 54 billion baht 54 billion baht (about 1.47 billion USD). "Thailand attaches great importance to the control of standards throughout the production process, the quality of Thai durian has won lots of Chinese customers."

The event participants had the chance to taste different types of durians such as Monthong, Chanee, Kanyao, Gradumtung, Kallam, and Puang Manee, as well as other Thai fruits on site. They also participated in activities such as durian food making, Thai fruit carving, and Thai massage experience.
