Guangzhou Port joins hands with GAC Motor to open a new ro-ro export express line

On March 25th, the GAC Motor ro-ro export express line for river-sea intermodal transportation celebrated its maiden voyage from Longsha Port. A total of 88 GAC export vehicles were transported to Xinsha Automobile Port by Huadu, a ro-ro ship operated by Guangzhou Port, ushering in a new chapter in GAC river-sea intermodal export.

The voyage featured midsize and full-size vehicles including GAC Trumpchi M8, M6, GS8, and Yingku (EMKOO), departing from Longsha Port for overseas markets such as the Philippines and Bolivia via Xinsha Port. The opening of the GAC Motor River-Sea Intermodal Ro-Ro Export Express Line optimizes the auto export logistics route for cooperation with Guangzhou Port, promotes the construction of regional river-sea intermodal channels, and embodies the principles of green development, resource sharing, and mutual benefit.

Guangzhou Port focuses on a three-pronged development mode consisting of port, shipping, and logistics. Through the synergy of all links of the supply chain, it actively explores to provide customers with safer, more efficient, better quality, and more stable logistics solutions to the whole supply chain of commercial vehicles. Apart from opening new ro-ro shipping operation points such as Longsha, Guangzhou Port further enriches the layout of vehicle collection and distribution network to better serve the export needs of local car companies such as GAC Group.

In order to support the maiden voyage and ensure efficient and smooth auto exports, Huangpu Customs accelerated the customs clearance processes in all aspects. At the frontline, they provided "one-on-one" policy consultation services for car companies, ports, and shipping companies, optimized the procedures for the transition of ships from foreign trade to domestic trade, and tailored the "one port, one policy" customs clearance service plan for customer needs. Under the guidance of Huangpu Customs, Maritime Safety Administration, Guangzhou Port Authority, and other relevant departments, the efficiency of port inspection and customs clearance has been improved, enabling vessels to start operation upon arrival.

In recent years, based on both the domestic and foreign trade markets, Guangzhou Port has actively integrated into the new dual circulation development pattern where domestic and foreign markets can boost each other with the domestic market as the mainstay. Following the development trends of the domestic auto industry, the port has continuously explored new brands and opened new routes. It has actively deepened cooperation with OEMs, such as GAC Group, to build a comprehensive logistics channel for automobile multimodal transportation. Leveraging its own vessels, Guangzhou Port has successively opened ro-ro shipping routes to Xinsha, Nansha, Hong Kong, Huadu, and Longsha, thereby densifying the ro-ro barge shipping route network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. All of these have helped Guangzhou Port build a major channel for automobile exports. It shall serve the Greater Bay Area, extend into inland regions, and connect to the world, catering to customer needs with more professional, safer, and more efficient logistics services.
