Wang Ruijun, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Committee, as well as Head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Guangdong Committee, delivered remarks and warm welcome to the guests from home and abroad.

In the speech, Wang said that Guangdong is China's largest economic powerhouse and the "Southern Gate" of opening-up. "In the past 73 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening-up more than four decades ago, Guangdong, like the rest of China, has witnessed dramatic changes."

Over the past decade, Guangdong has seen leaps in its economic performance over the years and satisfying results in high-quality development. Guangdong's GDP had increased from 5.7 trillion RMB in 2012 to 12.4 trillion RMB in 2021, ranking first in China for 33 consecutive years.

In 2021, the economic aggregate of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area registered 12.6 trillion RMB. Guangdong's import and export trade exceeded 8 trillion RMB, ranking first in China for 36 consecutive years, and trade with countries along the Belt and Road reached 2 trillion RMB.

In June, the Master Plan of Guangzhou Nansha on Deepening Comprehensive Cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao with Global Perspective was issued by the State Council. It is another major arrangement of the CPC Central Committee after the plans for the cooperation zones in Hengqin and Qianhai.

With edges magnified by the Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen Demonstration Zone, as well as cooperation platforms in Hengqin, Qianhai and Nansha, Guangdong is better positioned with greater confidence in advancing bravely in the new journey.

In the past 10 years, Guangdong has made continuous efforts to transform itself into a formidable competitor in manufacturing and scientific and technological innovation.

In the first half of this year, Guangdong closed 7.2 billion USD of trade in agricultural products with RCEP countries, ranking second in China.
