Scattered thunderstorms lashed Guangdong last night (September 18), mainly the central Pearl River Delta and the Pearl River Estuary.
The rainfall turned out to be a result of cold air moving southward from the north, which is hoped will lower the temperature slightly on September 21.
According to Guangdong Meteorological Observatory, dry weather will continue in most of the province from September 20 to September 21, with the highs in central and north Guangdong reaching 35℃ to 37℃.
Thunderstorms and localized heavy rain will appear in east and south Guangdong in the afternoon and during the night. From the daytime of September 21 to September 22, the weak cold air will lead to a slight drop of highs in most of the province.
On Tuesday, south Guangdong, Heyuan and Meizhou will see moderate thunderstorms, localized heavy rain or torrential downpours. The rest of the province will be cloudy with scattered thundershowers and localized heavy rain. The highs in southern coastal areas will be 30℃ to 32℃, 33℃ to 36℃ in other areas.
On Wednesday, the Pearl River Delta, Heyuan, Meizhou and west Guangdong will see moderate thunderstorms and localized heavy rain or torrential downpours. The highs in southern coastal areas will be 30℃ to 32℃, 31℃ to 34℃ in other areas.
On Thursday, north Guangdong will be clear to cloudy. The Leizhou Peninsula will be cloudy with thundershowers and localized heavy rain. The rest of the province will be cloudy with scattered thundershowers. The highs in southern coastal areas will be 29℃ to 31℃, 31℃ to 33℃ in other areas.

Despite the influence of the weak cold air, Guangzhou is still expected to stay in its summer due to the lingering hot days.
