A rail link between Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway and Guangzhou-Maoming Intercity Railway is expected to open to traffic soon as Shatou East block post started operation on November 8.

Once in operation, the trains on Guangzhou-Maoming Railway can travel through Jiangcun Railway Station, a crucial railway hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, thereby easing the traffic along the route.
With a total length of 9.73 kilometers and a design speed of 80 km/h, the rail link is a vital part of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway.

Stretching 400.11 kilometers, Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway starts from Guangzhou Railway Station, passes through cities including Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming before terminating at Zhanjiang North Railway Station.
It is designed to support a maximum speed of 350 km/h, with the highest investment of its kind in Guangdong in recent years.
Construction on the line started in 2019 and is expected to be completed in 2024. Upon completion, the travel time between the two cities (Guangzhou and Zhanjiang) will be cut from three hours to just one and a half.
