Yunfu City has concluded its spring plowing and planting season, which lasted more than two months, with both the sowing area and germination rates meeting targets.
In Dongxing Village, Baishi Town, Yun'an District of Yunfu, the rice fields resembled a vast green velvet blanket, gently rippling in the breeze. Experienced farmers and local sci-tech experts inspected the growth of every plant in the fields. With the spring plowing and planting now complete throughout the town, the next steps will involve pest and disease prevention as well as fertilization.
During this year's spring plowing, Yunfu achieved real-time monitoring of planting progress and full coverage of weather disaster warnings through its smart agriculture platform. Drones for field inspections, soil moisture sensors, and other smart devices were deployed, leading to significant improvements in key indicators such as sowing depth and row spacing. According to statistics, as of April 18, the city had planted approximately 229,907 acres of spring crops, reaching 99.7% of the plan. Among these, around 129,912 acres of food crops were planted, meeting 99.9% of the goal. This included 34,644 acres of peanuts, 25,897 acres of vegetables, and 3,295 acres of fruits, all achieving 100% of the plan.
Once the spring plowing was finished, the agricultural department organized sci-tech experts and agricultural technicians to provide careful follow-up services in the fields. The current focus is on promoting water-saving irrigation and green pest control techniques to ensure a bountiful harvest of early rice crops.
