Air China, China Southern receive first C919 aircraft

On August 28, in a significant milestone for China's aviation industry, both Air China and China Southern officially received their first C919 aircraft at the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) assembly center in Pudong, Shanghai.

It marks the beginning of a new era for the C919, China's self-developed large passenger aircraft, as it prepares to enter multi-user operations.

The Air China C919 is configured as an extended-range model with a two-class layout, featuring 158 seats, which includes 8 business class and 150 economy class seats.

Meanwhile, the first C919 of China Southern is a standard range aircraft, with a three-class layout of 164 seats, including 8 business class, 18 premium economy class and 138 economy class.

Both aircraft are equipped with customized cabin seats and other facilities and equipment, and the whole cabin is equipped with personal charging ports to provide passengers with a convenient and comfortable flight experience.

To ensure the smooth introduction and operation of the C919, Air China and China Southern have closely collaborated with COMAC, focusing on aircraft selection, production oversight, staff training, and operational preparations.

Up to now, a total of 9 C919 aircraft have been delivered, and the C919 aircraft of China Eastern have been running smoothly for 15 consecutive months since their first commercial flight, flying 5 regular routes, and carrying out more than 3,600 commercial flights and accumulating 10,000 flight hours.

In the next step, COMAC will continue to prioritize customer satisfaction, striving to enhance its service and operational support systems in preparation for more C919 aircraft entering commercial service.
