The typhoon has moved into the eastern part of the South China Sea and is continuing to approach western Guangdong. As it gradually gains strength, the maximum wind force near its center will reach levels 15 to 17 (strong typhoon or super typhoon level), bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to Guangdong.

Between September 5 and 7, areas in the western part of Guangdong and the southern coast of the Pearl River Delta will experience heavy to torrential rain, with some regions facing extreme downpours. In anticipation of the storm, Guangdong activated a level-IV emergency wind prevention response on September 3. By noon on September 4, all fishing vessels west of the Pearl River estuary were ordered to return to harbors to take shelter from the storm.
