January 10 marks the 36th anniversary for invoking 110, the telephone number for alarm in China.
According to Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, in 2021, Guangdong's 110 police services received more than 17.8 million effective alarms (including the public calling the police, emergency help, complaints about police services, etc).

Compared with 2020, callings for services due to crimes decreased by 12.68%; callings due to public security concerns down by 10.41% on a year-on-year basis; callings for help and consultation up by 17.06%. In 2021, Guangdong's 110 police services reported 166,000 cases involved in telecom fraud, a year-on-year decrease of 30.99%, an obvious effect in anti-fraud actions; Guangdong's public security organs found more than 99,000 missing persons.
In terms of serving the public, public security organs at all levels in Guangdong have actively promoted the establishment of 110 social emergency linkage mechanisms such as judicial assistance, convenient services for moving vehicles, and non-police callings, which are operating well.
In 2021, more than 140,000 cases in need of judicial assistance were transferred; in over 10 million cases, services such as moving cars to facilitate people were provided; and more than 227,000 involved cases were transferred to hotline 12345, 12355, and 119 for assistance, so as to help residents relieve their worries and difficulties.
In May last year, Guangdong launched “Ping An Ting” mailbox program (“平安厅”信箱) . The Provincial Public Security Department launched the mailbox of the Director-General. 21 cities across the province have also launched the mailboxes of the directors of municipal bureau of public security.
If there are needs of non-urgent help and consultation, or some suggestions for public security work, residents can send them to the “Ping An Ting” mailbox .
Data shows there were more than 6.78 million invalid cases received by 110 police services in this province last year, which squeezed 110 resources. The Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department reminded that 110 is an extremely valuable public security resource, and residents should make use of it correctly and leave the precious resource to those who need it most.
Furthermore, January 10 marks China's second Chinese People's Police Day. On this day, public security organs across Guangdong will simultaneously hold police flag raising ceremonies.
