The tournament is classified as a WTA 250 event and will be contested on outdoor hard courts. It features women's singles and women's doubles competitions, with 32 main draw singles players, 24 main draw doubles teams, and 24 singles qualifiers. The singles and doubles finals will be staged on October 27.

This year's Guangzhou Open has attracted numerous top players to register for the competition, including two Grand Slam singles champions, Sloane Stephens and Sofia Kenin, mixed doubles gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, Katerina Siniakova, as well as Chinese players, Wang Xiyu and Wang Yafan. Additionally, several players ranked in the top 50 worldwide will also participate.

During the event, international player visits to schools, communities, and scenic spots will be organized, aiming to bring players closer to the city of Nansha.

The official mascot of the Guangzhou Open, "Qiqi," was unveiled at the press conference. Its design is inspired by the qilin from ancient Chinese mythology, symbolizing good luck and brilliance. It showcases the fashionable vitality and positive spirit of tennis and carries the best wishes for the tournament.

This year marks the second consecutive year that the Guangzhou Open is held in Nansha. A cultural exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Guangzhou Open and other cultural and creative activities featuring the mascot will also be launched during the event, showcasing the urban landscape and development achievements of Nansha.
