Rail services in Hunan and Guangdong face delays and cancellations

At 8:00 a.m. August 15, China's National Meteorological Centre issued a forecast indicating that moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized downpours or torrential rain, will affect central and southern Hunan, as well as Guangdong over the next three days. As travel demand remains high during the summer peak season, this round of rainfall is expected to negatively impact railway operations.

To ensure passenger safety, China Railway Guangzhou Group has responded to the meteorological forecasts by assessing the situation and implementing measures to minimize the impact of the rain on train services. The group announced in a report at 3:00 p.m. August 15 that it would impose speed restrictions and temporary cancellations on several high-speed train routes severely affected by the weather.

On August 15 and 16, the affected lines include Shenzhen-Zhanjiang Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway, Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, Meizhou-Shantou Railway, as well as the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway, and Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway. Speed limits will be enforced on these segments, and some trains will be suspended to reduce service density on the railways.

The railway authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust train schedules dynamically based on the intensity of the rainfall.

Passengers are advised to stay updated by checking the 12306.cn website and station announcements for information on additional train services. For further inquiries, passengers can contact the railway customer service hotline at 12306 to plan their journeys accordingly.
