The Cross-border E-commerce Industry Matching Conference kicked off in Maoming City, Guangdong on January 4. The conference aimed to promote local industries' cross-border e-commerce business by connecting local enterprises with e-commerce platforms, industry associations, and technical service providers.

The event was organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Committee as one of the supportive activities for the High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns, and Villages.
Leading enterprises in the e-commerce industry such as Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, Walmart, AliExpress, Mercadolibre, Cainiao Group, Douyin E-commerce, and JD Logistics were invited to the event. Local enterprises in fields such as bamboo waving, glove manufacturing, and aquilaria processing also participated, with a total number of 300 participants.

Chen Xiaofeng, President of CCPIT Guangdong Committee, highlighted that aquilaria, tilapia, and lychee as special local products in Maoming, showcasing the city's potential for dynamic industrial development. He suggested that the city could leverage the e-commerce resources gathered at the event to gradually develop a profitable industrial chain.
During the event, Maoming Government, Russian-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce, and Kyrgyzstan-Guangdong Chamber of Commerce jointly launched the Maoming High-quality Product Exhibition Month to promote Maoming's products in global markets.

In addition, the Maoming Cross-border E-commerce Overseas Service Center was established at the event. The center will facilitate long-term cooperation between Maoming and the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in the field of cross-border e-commerce and support Maoming's products to go global.
Participants were invited to visit the lychee orchard and aquilaria agricultural park on the same day to learn about the planting, processing, and sales of these native products.
As the world's largest lychee planting area, Maoming's total lychee output reached 620,900 tons in 2023, with the revenue of fresh fruit reaching 8.85 billion RMB. The output value of longan is 7 billion RMB, and the total output value of Qianpai Sanhua plum is over 1.8 billion RMB.
Luo Haiwen, head of Public Affairs in Guangdong of Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, stated that the company plans to develop a number of local brands in cross-border e-commerce within a year or two. They also intend to upgrade some county-level cross-border e-commerce brands by working with the local government, empowering more local enterprises to sell products in global markets.
According to the Maoming Municipal Bureau of Commerce, by the end of October 2023, the import and export trade volume of cross-border e-commerce in Maoming had reached 1.225 billion yuan, an increase of 11 percent over the same period last year.
