The imported cold-chain products are able to reach cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) within one hour and reach other cities in China within 24 hours, according to the Nansha government.

The estimated investment of the project is 3.5 billion RMB. It covers an area of 208 thousand square meters, with a planned cold storage capacity of 460 thousand metric tons, making it the largest single cold storage facility in China.

According to Song Xiaoming, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Port Group, the project provides one-stop comprehensive cold chain logistics services and frozen items trading services, including inspecting, bonded storing, disinfecting, and distributing imported cold-chain products.

Imported fruits such as Thai durian, Japanese grapes, and European cherries can be stored and go through customs clearance procedure in the cold storage close to the container port, which reduces the post-harvest losses of fruits.

According to the Nansha government, in 2021, the value of cold-chain imports from Nansha Port reached 20.29 billion RMB. The value of imports from January to September in 2022 has exceeded 17.4 billion RMB. The variety of imported cold-chain products is more than 50, most of which are seasonal fruits such as durian, mangosteen, and cherries.
