Led by the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the website was built by the Guangzhou Maritime Court and covers the maritime adjudication business of 11 maritime courts, their appellate higher people's courts and the SPC.

The website provides intelligent support for maritime judges in case handling and online litigation services such as filings, court hearings and judgement executions for Chinese and foreign parties.

It will also release authoritative maritime judicial information to the public, experts and scholars, and is an important showcase for China's maritime justice to the international community.

As a dynamic exchange platform for maritime trial information, the China Maritime Trial website helps to achieve the transparency of the processes of maritime trails. It is of great significance to enhance the quality and efficiency of maritime trial cases handling and better meet the judicial needs of the people.

SPC president Zhou Qiang on the high-quality development of maritime trial work

Zhou Qiang, president of the SPC, said all maritime courts should effectively build and improve the network to further enhance maritime judicial capacity and fully leverage maritime judicature in protecting the marine environment, economic development and safeguarding national maritime rights and interests.

Maritime courts should capitalize on the platform and big data analysis to strengthen maritime adjudication management. Judges should rely on this platform to learn from each other, constantly improve professional abilities and broaden international vision, he said.

Courts should also closely follow the needs of trial practice and constantly optimize the functions of the website to meet them. The security management of the website should be enhanced to ensure the safety of network operations and data, Zhou said.

Maritime courts should comprehensively deepen the construction of informatization of maritime adjudication, promote high-quality development, he stressed.

Courts should effectively construct and take advantage of the website to further enhance the capacity of maritime adjudication, according to Zhou.

Zhou emphasized that maritime courts need to uphold reform and innovation, optimize the maritime adjudication system, strengthen the utilization of big data, cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence, 5G and other cutting-edge technologies, unify the maritime adjudication criteria at a faster pace, and further modernize the maritime adjudication system and capability.

Zhou pointed out that the role of judicial cases with significant international influence should be given full play in formulating international rules and filling gaps in international law. He put emphasis on deepening international judicial exchanges and cooperation too.
