On November 9, Guangzhou's Liwan and Panyu districts announced to tighten COVID-19 control from November 9 to 13.
During the 5 days, residents shall stay home, except for essential reasons such as COVID-19 tests or emergency medical treatment. Apart from medical workers, suppliers, community staff, volunteers, and employees of government departments and public institutions responsible for COVID-19 control and prevention, other people are required to work from home. Primary schools, secondary schools, and kindergartens are closed and the offline classes are suspended.
On November 8, Guangdong reported 197 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases, and 2,611 local asymptomatic infections. In addition, there were 395 local confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic cases.
Guangzhou reports 2,637 local COVID-19 infections
Guangzhou held a press conference on the city's fight against COVID-19 today (November 9).

"On November 8, Guangzhou reported 2,637 local COVID-19 infections, of which 20 were detected during screening at the community level or among people who sought medical treatment," Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, said at the press conference.
"Starting from November 10 (Thursday), except for Nansha, Conghua, and Zengcheng, primary and secondary schools in other districts will suspend offline teaching and carry out online teaching," Chen Xueming, deputy director of the Educational Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality, said at the press conference.
He added, "For students in their third year of senior high school with accommodation, the school will implement enclosed management. Kindergartens will be suspended. Guangzhou's colleges and universities will also implement enclosed management."
Haizhu District reported 2,442 local infections in a single day. The new infections still mainly concentrated in Kanglu area of Fengyang Subdistrict and Kecun area of Chigang Subdistrict, and the epidemic leakage still exists in the borders of the controlled areas.
In the Longtan area of Haizhu's Huazhou Subdistrict, the increased infection number is due to the fact that some residents did not take nucleic acid tests after infection at the early stage. It is necessary to further strengthen nucleic acid tests in the controlled areas, and it will be combined with antigen tests everyday.
Zhang Yi said, "The new outbreak points were Liwan's Zhanqian and Xicun subdistricts. There were multiple transmission chains, the subsequent risk of community transmission exists. The epidemic situation in Baiyun and Panyu is still in a stalemate, and we are doing our best to deal with it."
On November 9, Guangzhou started mass COVID-19 testing in Liwan, Huangpu, Zengcheng, Tianhe, Baiyun, Huadu, Haizhu districts, and some parts of Conghua District.
Shenzhen reports 1+2 new local cases
On November 8, Shenzhen reported 1 new confirmed case and 2 asymptomatic infections, among which 2 were detected during centralized quarantine and 1 among key individuals under closed-loop management.
Maoming reports 37+18 new local cases
On November 8, Maoming's Maonan District reported 31 new confirmed cases and 18 asymptomatic infections.
Among the confirmed cases, 13 were detected during centralized quarantine and 18 during screening in high-risk areas.
Among the asymptomatic infections, 10 were detected during centralized quarantine and 8 during screening in high-risk areas.
On November 8, Maoming's Gaozhou detected 6 confirmed cases among people under COVID-19 control.
Shantou reports 41+12 new local cases
On November 8, Shantou reported 41 new confirmed cases (mild type) and 12 asymptomatic infections, among which 47 cases were detected during centralized quarantine, while 6 during screening in high-risk areas. No cases were detected at the community level.
In addition, there were 3 local confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic cases
Dongguan reports 2+12 new local cases
From 00:00 to 15:00 on November 8, Dongguan's Dalang Town detected 1 confirmed case after the individual sought medical attention.
From 15:00 to 20:00 on November 8, Dongguan's Dalingshan Town reported 1 confirmed case and 6 asymptomatic infections, among which 1 was detected during screening of close contacts, 1 during centralized quarantine, and 5 during screening of key individuals under closed-loop management.
From 20:00 to 24:00 on November 8, Dongguan reported 4 asymptomatic infections (2 in Dalang Town, 1 in Dalingshan Town, and 1 in Xiegang Town), among which 2 were detected during screening at the community level. And the remaining 2 patients were individuals traveling back to Dongguan from other provincial-level regions, among which 1 was detected among key individuals under non-closed-loop management and 1 during screening at the community level.
Jieyang's Puning reports 6 new asymptomatic cases
On November 8, Jieyang's Puning added 6 asymptomatic cases, among which 3 were detected among quarantined close contacts, 2 in the controlled areas, 1 among key individuals informed by another city.
Foshan adds 5 asymptomatic cases
On November 8, Foshan added 5 local asymptomatic cases, among which 4 were detected among quarantined people and 1 after the individual sought medical attention. In addition, there were 2 local confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic infections.
Meizhou adds 5 asymptomatic cases
On November 8, Meizhou added 5 asymptomatic cases, among which 3 were detected in Fengshun County (2 during screening in high-risk areas and 1 during centralized quarantine). The remaining 2 cases were detected among key individuals under non-closed-loop management in Meixian District.
Zhaoqing reports 1+1 new local cases
On November 8, Zhaoqing reported 1 new confirmed case and 1 asymptomatic infection among key individuals under closed-loop management.
Jiangmen's Heshan reports 1 new confirmed case
On November 8, Heshan detected 1 new confirmed case (mild type) among quarantined people.
Yangjiang reports 1 new confirmed case
On November 8, Yangjiang's Yangchun detected 1 new confirmed case among individuals who took nucleic acid tests. The patient lives in Yangchun's Chunwan Town.
Chaozhou's Raoping reports 1 new asymptomatic case
On November 8, Raoping County added 1 asymptomatic case, detected during centralized quarantine.
