In June, lychee orchards in Maoming, Guangdong, burst with ripe fruit, swiftly distributed nationwide through logistics networks to ensure peak freshness. At the same time, Eagle Coin Haibao, a leading food processor in Dianbai District, is preserving the season's sweetness through large-scale canning operations.
On June 10, the company launched its annual lychee canning campaign. Over a 30-day period, it expects to produce 1 million cans—80% of which are destined for international markets such as Canada and Southeast Asia. The company's lychee products, favored for their moderate sweetness, are widely used in desserts and baked goods and promoted through trade fairs like the Canton Fair and China Food & Drinks Fair.
Established in 2021 with a ¥12 million (USD 1.7 million) investment, Eagle Coin Haibao is Maoming's first lychee canning facility to meet rigorous quality standards. Its production line generates more than 30,000 cans daily. In response to growing demand, the company is expanding capacity with new canning and sterilization equipment and exploring new markets in Europe.
Maoming, known as China's "Lychee Hometown," accounts for nearly half of the nation's lychee output. The growth of deep-processing industries like canning extends the fruit's shelf life, adds export value, and transforms a seasonal harvest into a year-round economic driver.
