135th Canton Fair draws a stellar close with 24.7 bln USD export deal inked offline

The 135th Canton Fair concluded successfully on Sunday, leaving both buyers and exhibitors satisfied and eager for the autumn session.

As of May 4th, a record-breaking 246,000 foreign buyers from 215 countries and regions attended the offline event, a 24.5% increase from the previous session. Among them, there were 160,000 buyers from partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), up 25.1%; 61,000 from RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) member countries, up 25.5%; 52,000 from BRICS countries, up 27.6%; and 50,000 from Europe and the US, up 10.7%.

The offline export turnover of this session reached 24.7 billion USD, a 10.7% increase from the previous session. Transactions with BRI-participating countries reached $13.86 billion, a 13% increase from the previous session. Per capita spending remained high among buyers from Europe and the US.

The online platform of this session also saw increasing activity, with export turnover reaching $3.03 billion, a 33.1% increase from the previous session.

The 135th Canton Fair featured over 1 million new products showcased by exhibitors and hosted 334 events for new product launches and debuts.

Launched in 1957 and held twice a year, the Canton Fair is considered a major indicator for China's foreign trade.

The 136th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou in three phases from October 15 to November 4 this year. The application for booths for the offline exhibition of the 136th Canton Fair was launched on May 1.
