Guangzhou's Liwan holds an intangible cultural heritage exchange activity in Macao

Guangzhou's Liwan District held an intangible cultural heritage exchange activity in Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) recently, aiming to demonstrate Liwan's rich intangible cultural heritage and facilitate cultural exchange between Macao and Liwan District.

At the event

"Liwan District is located in the center of Guangzhou and is the millennium commercial capital with more than 2,000 years of history. Liwan has 14 provincial historical and cultural blocks and 226 historical buildings, inherited 60 intangible cultural heritages," said Tan Minghe, Head of Liwan District in the opening speech.

Zhang Zhiqing, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Arts of MUST said, "It is a meaningful event for MUST students to closely enjoy intangible cultural heritage and learn from the masters. Macao and Liwan District have both similarities and differences in intangible cultural heritage projects. It is a good chance for the two sides learning from each other."

At the event, Tan Guanghui, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project "Guangcai porcelain firing technique", donated the Guangcai porcelain artwork "Jindi Peony" 《金地牡丹》 to the Macao Museum and "Cicadas chirp with ripe lynches" 《蝉鸣荔熟》to the MUST in his own name.

Liwan also invited four intangible cultural heritage masters to share their stories with audiences during the event, including Tan Guanghui, Wang Xinyuan, the inheritor of the municipal project "Cantonese Embroidery", Sun Liping, the inheritor of the district project "Guangzhou Fragrant Art", and Huang Jianhong, the inheritor of the district project "Guangzhou Tea Art".

Intangible cultural heritage Masters invite the audience to experience the process of intangible cultural heritage production.

Tan Guanghui began to work in art in 1979. He mastered all the traditional processing techniques of Guangcai porcelain, including printing, making films, pigment, stamping, engraving. Guanghui Caici Art Studio, the art studio he founded, was rated as an intangible cultural heritage base both at the provincial and municipal level.

Wang Xinyuan has been engaged in embroidery for 28 years, who has won dozens of awards in the arts and crafts category. He formed his own unique embroidery style and developed original "circle stitch" skill.

Sun Liping has promoted Guangzhou incense culture since 1999, who has organized hundreds of large-scale incense culture exhibitions and performances. She is also an expert of fragrance design who has won awards in fragrance culture exhibitions.

Huang Jianhong has more than 20 years experience on tea art, exploring how to develop tea culture and match its value to people's daily life. She has participated in hundreds of tea forums, lectures and tea parties and received ambassadors and consuls general from more than 160 countries.
