Luohu Port in Shenzhen hits new high in passenger flow

In the first six months of this year, the Luohu Border Inspection Station in Shenzhen witnessed the clearance of over 30 million inbound and outbound passengers, marking a significant upsurge compared to the same period in 2023. The station has broken the single-day passenger flow record four times since the resumption of clearance, with the highest daily flow exceeding 248,000.

As an important link between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the Luohu Border Inspection Station facilitates the passage of more inbound and outbound passengers through the port, thanks to its unique location advantage, convenient transportation, and efficient customs clearances. More and more Hong Kong residents choose to travel to the Chinese mainland to visit their relatives or do some shopping. Meanwhile, tourists from the Chinese mainland also tend to make Shenzhen their first stop on outbound trips to Hong Kong.

The Luohu Border Inspection Station is currently the port with the largest inbound and outbound passenger flow in Shenzhen and also the preferred cross-border tourism hub for tour groups. With the implementation of a series of visa policies, such as the five measures to facilitate foreign nationals coming to China issued by China's National Immigration Administration, and the extension of the visa-exempt policy for 12 European and Asian countries to China, cultural and people-to-people exchanges among residents from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao SARs have become more frequent, and foreigners' visits to China for business, study, and tourism have also become more convenient.

The convenience of clearance extends beyond transportation to various aspects of life. The Luohu Border Inspection Station is no longer just a simple entry and exit channel but also an important platform for cultural exchange and cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. This year, many cultural exchange activities have been held in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, including the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), the first Chinese Culture Festival in Hong Kong, and Luohu Shenzhen-Hong Kong Culture Month, enabling residents from both Shenzhen and Hong Kong to learn more from each other, thus deepening the cultural integration between the two cities.
