Strong cold wave to hit Guangdong this week

A strong cold front is forecasted to impact Guangdong from February 22 to 25, bringing a significant drop in temperatures and light to moderate rain, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Service.

The cold snap is predicted to arrive in the northern part of the province in the early hours of February 22, affect Guangzhou that night, and ultimately reach the southern coastal areas by the morning of February 23.

Shaoguan and Qingyuan are expected to see a temperature drop of 10-15℃, while other regions will cool down by 5-8℃.

Between February 19 and 20, most parts of Guangdong will be cloudy with overcast periods, light rain, and mist. Lows: 17-19℃ in northern Guangdong, 19-22℃ in the remaining areas.

On February 22, there will be light rain in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, and scattered light rain in the remaining areas. Lows: 18-20℃ in northern Guangdong, 20-23℃ in the remaining areas.

From February 22 to 23, there will be light to moderate rain and localized heavy rain in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing. Lows: 3-5℃ in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, 6-8℃ in Heyuan, Meizhou, and Zhaoqing, 16-20℃ in the southern coastal areas, 10-15℃ in the remaining areas.

The cold weather will persist into February 24 to 25. Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing are likely to experience light rain and sleet. Lows: 3-5℃ in Shaoguan and Qingyuan, 6-8℃ in Heyuan, Meizhou, and Zhaoqing, 12-16℃ in the southern coastal areas, 8-12℃ in the remaining areas.
