Typhoon Koinu is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the coastal areas of Guangdong from October 7 to 10, according to the provincial meteorological observatory.
Koinu was located around 190 km south of Shanwei City at 1 p.m. on October 7. It is moving west by south towards the coastal regions between west Guangdong and east Hainan at a speed of 5-10 km/h, with its strength maintaining or gradually weakening.

On October 8, there will be heavy rain and localized torrential rain in the Pearl River Estuary. The remaining areas will be cloudy to overcast with showers. The highs will hit 25℃-27℃ in north and east Guangdong, 30℃-32℃ in west Guangdong and 28℃-30℃ in the rest of the province.
On October 9, southern Pearl River Delta and the coastal regions of west Guangdong will see heavy rain. The remaining areas will be cloudy to overcast with showers. The highs will reach 25℃-28℃ in north Guangdong and northern Pearl River Delta, and 29℃-31℃ in the rest of the province.
On October 10, localized rainstorms accompanied by whole gales are forecast for the Leizhou Peninsula. The highs will stay around 25℃-28℃ in Qingyuan, Shaoguan, western Pearl River Delta and west Guangdong, and 29℃-30℃ in the rest of the province.
