Guangzhou Metro has announced that the section from Tianhe Park to Yuancun of Line 21 will be dismantled for construction from October 2, when trains on this section will be suspended. The terminal station of Line 21 will be changed from Yuancun Station to Tianhe Park Station.
Affected by this, Line 21 will implement a new schedule for weekdays and weekends starting from October 8; stations such as Huangcun, Tangdong, Tianhe Smart City, Shuixi, Chebeinan, Chebei, and Yuancun will control the passenger flows during morning and evening rush hours on weekdays. Please plan your time and routes in advance when traveling.
Passengers on Line 21 can indirectly transfer to Line 5
Guangzhou Metro announced that in order to achieve the goal of opening Line 11, Guangzhou's first loop line, by the end of the year, the section from Tianhe Park to Yuancun of Line 21 will be dismantled on October 2, and the terminal station of Line 21 will be adjusted from Yuancun Station to Tianhe Park Station. The construction is expected to take 88 days.
During the renovation, the area of Yuancun Station belonging to the former Line 11 will be enclosed, including the transfer passage, platforms, and the three entrances A, E, and F; Tianhe Park Station will enclose platforms 1 and 2, while platforms 3 and 4 will be used for Line 21 trains to stop andforpassengers to get on and off.
In view of the fact that passengers on Line 21 can't directly transfer to Line 5, they can choose to take Line 4 to Huangcun Station and then transfer to Line 5 at Chebeinan Station, or take Line 7 to Shuixi Station and then transfer to Line 5 at Dashadong Station. These alternatives will not change the existing fare.
Passengers can plan their travel routes and time in advance via the Guangzhou Metro APP.
Some stations will control the passenger flows during rush hours
Starting from October 8, Line 21 will implement a new timetable for weekdays and weekends. Line 21 will continue to provide express and local service throughout the day, and a short shuttle service between Tianhe Park and Shuixi during the morning and evening peak hours with the intervals unchanged.
In addition to the change of the terminal station, the departure time of the last train from Tianhe Park Station to Zhonggang Station in the direction of Zengcheng Square will be extended by about 13 minutes. For example, the last train will depart from Tianhe Park Station at 23:05, 13 minutes later than the original time.
Passenger flow control will be implemented at stations such as Huangcun, Tangdong, Tianhe Smart City, Shuixi, Chebeinan, Chebei, and Yuancun during morning and evening rush hours on workdays. If passenger flow control is enforced, passengers should follow the instructions of the staff for safe and orderly boarding.
