Dongguan-Hong Kong International Airport Center's I&E trade value exceeds 10 billion RMB

According to Huangpu Customs, the Dongguan-Hong Kong International Airport Center has seen its import and export trade value surpass 10 billion yuan since officially launching operations in April 2023.

The center, as the world's first cross-border air-sea inter-modal project directly connected to an airport, has played a key role in deepening connectivity between Guangdong and Hong Kong. Electronic intermediate goods have accounted for 70% of the trade volume, and the center has served 651 companies while expanding the range of traded commodities to 738 types. The total cargo throughput has reached 9,984.46 tons.

"The airport center has enabled direct loading of export air cargo and direct pickup of imported air cargo, leading to deeper and tighter cross-border air logistics cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong," said Gao Jianying, the deputy director of the Shatian Customs under the Huangpu Customs.

Serving as an extension of the Hong Kong International Airport in Dongguan, the center provides a convenient and efficient import/export channel for manufacturers in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. It has also expanded the development space for Hong Kong's international aviation industry and attracted more Hong Kong youth and enterprises to the region.

Recently, workers were seen loading imported goods transported directly from aris airport to Hong Kong International Airport, and then transferred to the Dongguan airport center through the Greater Bay Area maritime freight network, all without the need for unloading and reloading.

"The airport center has reinforced Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub and injected new momentum into Hong Kong's development as a trade center," the customs official commented.
