Guangzhou's Liwan Market Supervision Bureau ensures regulated trading environment at the Canton Fair

The 135th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) opened in Guangzhou on April 15th. During the Canton Fair, the Liwan District Market Supervision Bureau (the Bureau) set out in full force to ensure market order in hotel accommodation, dining consumption, combating infringement, and price supervision and inspection.

The Bureau issued a notice on strengthening special inspections in key markets during the 135th Canton Fair, focusing on key markets and products during the fair. The Bureau organized special inspections and daily checks around key areas and key links of intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and geographical indications. In addition, a team was dispatched to participate in the fair's on-site exhibition work and was responsible for handling trademark and geographical indication disputes in Zone C and Zone D.

A total of 46 enterprises from Liwan District participated in the 135th Canton Fair, an increase of 7 percent compared to the 134th Canton Fair. While providing administrative guidance on intellectual property to the exhibiting enterprises, the Bureau also cracked down on illegal activities infringing upon well-known trademarks within its jurisdiction. This effort contributed to market supervision during the cultural feast of the Canton Fair.

The Bureau issued a notice on strengthening price supervision in key areas during the 135th Canton Fair, focusing on monitoring prices of essential consumer goods and hotel accommodation services. They intensified supervision, handed out "Clear Pricing and Prohibition of Price Fraud Regulations" and "Price Reminder Warning Letters" to operators, and guided them to sign "Price Commitment Agreements."

As of now, the Bureau has deployed 218 inspection personnel, inspected 438 relevant business entities, handed out 58 price reminder warning letters, and signed 58 price commitment agreements with merchants. With multiple measures in place, they are ensuring stable market price order and effectively addressing livelihood issues during the Canton Fair period.
