What do you usually do on a Friday night to unwind from your work pressure? A journey to a museum can be an excellent choice! Guangdong Museum has extended its opening hours and launched some special activities on Friday nights during the summer holiday.
"The nightlife in the Song Dynasty" event was held on the evening of August 5, presenting flower arranging, incense burning, and tea whisking. The audience also tried their hands on some of the activities at the end of the show.
If you have already missed the Song Dynasty night, there are still two fantastic events to come.
On August 19, the opening ceremony of a special exhibition of paintings and calligraphy from the Song and Yuan dynasties will be held on the 2nd floor of the museum. This is the first special exhibition held by Guangdong cultural institutions focusing on paintings and calligraphy in the Song and Yuan dynasties, with Guangdong Museum's collection Cloud Dragon as the highlight. Audiences can also enjoy the dance and music presented by Guangdong Modern Dance Company and Guangdong National Orchestra.
An art salon of Dunhuang will fall on August 26. Bamboo flute artist Zhang Fan and dancer Zhao Wenting from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, as well as an art graduate student Yan Jiehong from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts will introduce Dunhuang from the aspects of music, dance, and painting.
Meanwhile, the Guangdong Museum also rolled out the welcome mat for visitors with a variety of cultural and creative products and entertainments, such as ice cream inspired by cultural relics, underwater archaeological blind boxes, and an immersive AR experience. Visitors can make a reservation on its official WeChat account "广东省博物馆 (pinyin: guang dong sheng bo wu guan)" to enjoy a diverse and fulfilling night.
