Since 2009, Liuhua Lake Park has lent 12 plots of land, totaling around 60,000 square meters, to facilitate various municipal projects. This has resulted in the disruption of park pathways and the removal of parking facilities. Currently, the Guangzhou Municipal Forestry and Landscaping Bureau is now working with metro and utility projects to restore and upgrade the park comprehensively.
One of the highlights of the restoration is the transformation of the park's iconic "White Castle" into an international cultural and art exchange center. Additionally, the entrance area near the South Sea Fishing Village restaurant will be developed into a garden-style restaurant zone, blending the park's distinctive elements with traditional Lingnan garden aesthetics and creating a serene and intricate landscape.

Furthermore, upon completion, the park will feature improved pathways and facilities, with certain urban traffic functions integrated into the Dongfeng West Road area.
In recent years, Liuhua Lake Park has seen significant environmental improvements, including removing barriers, ecological restoration, and enhancing water quality. The park's bird species count has risen from 58 in 2019 to 75 in 2023, reflecting its flourishing ecosystem.

With over 20 scenic spots and a harmonious blend of lake views with traditional Lingnan architecture, Liuhua Lake Park offers a rich diversity of flora, including palms, ficus trees, flowering shrubs, and expansive lawns. Once the project is complete, visitors are able to spend an entire day exploring this rejuvenated urban oasis.
