Exhibitions worth checking out during National Day holiday

Staying in Guangzhou for the National Day holiday? Here are the five following wonderful exhibitions we want to recommend!

1. Masterpieces in Lingnan: a Special Exhibition of Song and Yuan Calligraphy and Painting (online & offline)

This is the first special exhibition held by Guangdong focusing on paintings and calligraphy in the Song and Yuan dynasties, with the collections of a total of eight museums. Visitors can see over 50 pieces (sets) of paintings and calligraphy in the Song and Yuan dynasties and other cultural relics, including more than half of the first-class cultural relics.

Time: 9:00-17:00 (closed on Mondays), until November 27, 2022

Venue: Thematic exhibition hall, 3rd floor, Guangdong Museum (广东省博物馆)

Note: A negative result for nucleic acid tests within 72 hours is required to enter the venue.

2. Polyphonic Writing: The group exhibition of Yang Shu, Qi Lan, Tu Hongtao and Li Qing (online)

Born in the 1960s and 1980s, Yang Shu, Qi Lan, Tu Hongtao, and Li Qing embraced the influences of both Eastern and Western art and gradually formed their own painting styles. In the form of "polyphonic writing", the four artists' exploration of contemporary painting language is presented to the public. This exhibition is presented by the Guangdong Museum of Art. 3. The Spectacular World: A retrospective exhibition on the art of Huang Bore (online)

Huang Bore is an outstanding painter from Guangdong. Featuring Huang's 126 artworks, the exhibition is divided into five parts on flower and bird paintings, figure paintings, landscape paintings, paintings of Huang's friends, and his collection, vividly presenting Huang's artistic life and achievements. 4. Work of Nature in Blue-and-green Landscape: Research Exhibition on Colours of Landscape Painting (offline)

Blue-green paintings were a very important genre in Chinese landscape painting in Tang Dynasty, using blue and green mineral or plant dyes as primary colors. This time, over 40 landscape paintings from Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty are on display, showcasing the history of this genre of Chinese traditional fine art and depicting the beauty of the Chinese landscape.

Time: 9:00-17:00 (except for Mondays), until November 23, 2022
