"Taiwan independence" unacceptable: former KMT chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu

Cross-Strait exchanges revived in April 2024. Important figures of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party visited the Chinese mainland one after another. From April 20 to 27, Hung Hsiu-chu, former chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang party, visited Guangdong Province to communicate with businessmen from Taiwan and explore historical sites and high-tech companies.

In July this year, Hung will lead 200 young people from Taiwan to visit Zhejiang Province, where they will live together for several days and interact directly. "I also look forward to organizing young people from the mainland to visit Taiwan and promote two-way interaction," Hung told GDToday in an exclusive interview on April 26.

"Although there are still many difficulties in cross-Strait exchanges, as long as we never give up, young people across the Taiwan Strait will get closer."

"Historical memory makes us think deeply about how to work hard for the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation." She said that in Taiwan, young people are greatly influenced by politicians, but "Taiwan independence" is harmful to their own position. "I think it should be openly debated."
