Track laying completed on whole line of Meizhou-Longchuan High-speed Railway

At 2:00 a.m. on April 29, the Meizhou-Longchuan High-speed Railway (Meilong HSR) project ushered in new progress. With the last set of 500-meter-long rails laid steadily on the track in Longchuan, Heyuan, the track-laying of the entire Meilong HSR has been completed, marking its sprint towards opening to traffic.

The Meilong HSR is a double-track high-speed rail that spans from Meizhou to Longchuan. Its total length is about 93.9 kilometers and the design speed is 350 kilometers per hour. Upon completion, the travel time from Meizhou to Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be shortened to within 1.5 hours, facilitating connectivity within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Additionally, Meilong HSR is an important part of the high-speed passenger transportation corridor connecting eastern Guangdong to central and northern China, as well as an important auxiliary corridor connecting the Yangtze River Delta region to the Pearl River Delta region via the West Straits Economic Zone.

The Meilong HSR will greatly improve the transport capacity between the Pearl River Delta, the eastern part of Guangdong Province, and Meizhou, Heyuan, accelerating transport connectivity in Guangdong, boosting economic development in the region, and improving people's livelihoods.
