Declared value of Guangzhou China-Europe freight train reached about 20 billion RMB in six-year operation

Since the first departure of China-Europe freight train from Guangzhou on August 28, 2016, it has operated 625 train services with 58,040 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, and the declared freight volume has reached 19.732 billion RMB, according to the Guangzhou Customs.

Linking more than 30 cities in more than 20 countries and regions in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, West Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, the freight helps to boost international trade through Eurasia.

From 2016 to 2022, the annual number of China-Europe trains under the supervision of the Guangzhou Customs has increased from 13 to over 190, with an average annual growth of over 56%. The frequency has also increased from 1-2 train trips per month to up to 4 train trips per day.

Apart from the ever-expanding operation scale of trains, it has also enriched the goods variety cover more than 1,400 tariff codes of products, including clothing, computer and communication technology products, household appliances, and others.

Chen Zhen, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Customs, said that Guangzhou will continue to leverage opportunities provided by the freight to support enterprises to make full use of the freight as a new international land and maritime trade channel.

The city will also keep improving customs clearance efficiency, so as to help the China-Europe freight expand its operational scope, increase the number of train trips, and further boost trade between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
