The 2023 Global Mayors' Forum & 6th Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation is ongoing in Guangzhou from December 7 to 9. Representatives from 63 cities and 9 international organizations from 37 countries participate in the event.
“We're trying to build this network of not only mayors but communities, local leaders,local entrepreneurs who can share experiences or innovative solutions,” said Claudia Lopez Hernandez, Mayor of Bogotá of Colombia and President of World Association of Major Metropolises, at an interview with GDToday. She stressed the importance of communication among cities globally.
She noted that Bogotá and Guangzhou have communicated on green city and caring solutions while experiences of long-life learning and adaptation due to technological changes will be in high demand in the future.
This event is a collaboration between the World Association of Major Metropolises, United Cities and Local Government (UCLG), and Guangzhou City, aiming at exchanging advanced experience in innovative development of urban governance and promoting the comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable development of cities around the world.
